Introducing our tenth Heroes of Pride!

In celebration of the NYC arrival of WorldPride 2019, The Mixx is honoring 12 individuals who are making a difference in the lives of the LGBTQ community. Our tenth Pride Hero is a power couple: Todd Evans, CEO of Rivendell Media (the leading expert on gay and lesbian and HIV/AIDS media) and Jeffrey Moran, Vice-President of Brand Communications and Marketing Services at Pernod Ricard USA (Absolut Vodka champion/LGTBQ rep/marketing partner and founder & executive sponsor of the company’s LGBTQ ERG). Read the interview below!

As a married couple, what does Pride mean to you?

TODD: Ha - work! Being the CEO of the leading LGBT media company, it symbolizes a sense of fulfillment and completion as I know we’ve made a difference in the community for another year! I see Pride as a time to relax and take stock. All the Pride ads are planned and placed - it’s a time to reflect on where we are, how far we have come, and what work is left to be done.  Pride, to me, is a celebration of accomplishment.

JEFFREY: Equality, protection, connection. And above all, it’s a feeling of community and belonging. There is a common thread that connects us all and it gives that instant link by simply knowing you share something so foundational with that other person.

Do you two share a Pride hero?

TODD & JEFFREY: We are sure others have shared this, too, but considering that both of us work with and for the LGBT community in some respect, we both immediately thought of Harvey Milk. He was a a person who lived out and proud and made a mark that we can all look back on as a breakthrough. He broke barriers in and outside of the LGBT Community and we think every one of us wishes we can contribute some small part of that in what we do today.

What is your ideal date night in New York?

TODD & JEFFREY: 5:30 dinner at a Columbus Circle restaurant followed by a 7 pm curtain call at the NYC Ballet, where we hold season tickets. It's our one culture splurge - and we love Lincoln Center, in all seasons.

How would you describe yourselves as a couple?

JEFFREY:  A very good team.

TODD: Complimentary. We are each such different people, but work well together at most tasks and both share the same values of honesty, integrity, and community.
